Washing & Care

Caring for your berkshire Products

Keep all your berkshire items looking and feeling their best by always following the care instructions on the sewn-in label on your products.

Here are some other tips and tricks we recommend when caring for any of your berkshire items:

  • For stain removal, only use non-chlorine bleach.
  • Do not use fabric softeners, dryer sheets, or scent-boosters.
  • Always wash separately.
  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, household cleaners, and cosmetic products with benzoyl peroxide

100% Polyester Plush

Our signature fabrics like VelvetPlushSoftPlushShimmerPlush, and UltraPlush should always be washed separately in cold water and on the gentle cycle. Non-chlorine bleach can be used as needed. We recommend allowing all of our 100% polyester plush items to be line dried. By line drying your plush items, you are limiting the amount of friction that the fibers experience, keeping them soft and velvety.

Washing separately is very important. When you wash a fully loaded washing machine, the fabrics rub against everything else that is in the wash. This can cause the fibers to get matted, pill, or shed. Sometimes your blanket can pick up fibers from other items it's washed with, leading to discolored pilling that is not attractive or nice feeling. So washing separate really is best.

Washing without heat is also important because any heat can cause irreversible damage to the soft fibers of your blanket. Your washing machine’s spin cycle will do a very good job of getting most of the water out of your item, so it will not take long for your blanket to dry.
